Open-Source Accounting
- GnuCASH - a very slick double-entry personal finance app for X. I'm hanging out for 1.8 release, there are lots of cool features that have been bouncing around CVS and unstable for months now.
- GNUe - the GNU Enterprise Project. Very ambitious project that shows a lot of promise. Early days yet though.
- SQL Ledger - slick web-based perl finance app
- NOLA - a PHP/apache/MySQL based business accounting application
- Compiere - very popular, seems mostly aligned for product-based businesses. Has an unhealthy dependency on Oracle.
- TinyBA - Tiny Business Accounting. Need I say more?
- Lazy8 Ledger - Java.
Of the above, GnuCASH obviously reigns for personal finance but may not scale to a medium sized business. SQL Ledger and NOLA are close competitors for the best free business accounting software, though neither of them is packaged for Debian yet so I'll have to get off my arse and manually install them to say any more.
